The best coffee maker depends on how you like your coffee and how you like to brew it. Hand filters are a strong choice for a clean and nuanced cup. French Press brewers create more body. If you prefer a stronger, espresso-like style, a moka pot can be especially appealing.

The main difference lies in the filter method and the resulting cup profile. A hand filter uses paper filtration and usually creates a cleaner body. A French Press is a full immersion brewer with a metal mesh filter, which keeps more oils in the cup and often produces a fuller result.

A moka pot brews coffee with steam pressure. Water in the lower chamber heats up, pressure pushes it through the coffee in the middle section and the finished coffee collects in the upper chamber. The result is a strong and intense coffee with an espresso-like character.

Material, size and brewing method are especially important. Glass and stainless steel are common choices and each offers different benefits in terms of temperature retention, durability and look. It also helps to think about whether you want a quick daily brew or a more deliberate ritual.
